Brazil is awarded as breakthrough golf destination Brazil was awarded with the Undiscovered Golf Destination of the Year 2010 during the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM). The main golf fair of the world was held in Malaga, Spain, from November 16 to 19. The award, granted to the breakthrough destination of the year, is one of the most important in the sector, and evidences the Brazilian golf tourism’s potential. Germany, Costa Rica, India and Switzerland were among the 21 countries competing. According to the Brazilian Golf Confederation, the sport is growing straightforwardly, and is expected to have a boom in the next years, mainly with the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, when the modality will be returned to the Games, after 112 years. The Brazilian Golf Tourism Bureau informed that the sector currently transacts US$ 30 billion all over the world, generated by approximately 15 million golfers who travel for golfing.
